BCCI shortlists 20 players for the upcoming T-20 World Cup, selection will not be done on the basis of IPL

T20 World Cup 2024 will be organized right after the conclusion of IPL 2024. This ICC tournament will be played in USA and West Indies this year and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started its preparations for this. BCCI can announce India’s squad for this tournament by the end of April.

For this tournament, ICC has asked all the teams to announce their squads by May 1. Meanwhile, the names of 20 players of Team India have been revealed for the upcoming T-20 World Cup. Out of these, 15 players will get a place in the team and the remaining 5 players can go with the team as standby.

Meanwhile, a BCCI source told PTI on the condition of confidentiality that, “This time there will be no experiment or selection on the basis of performance on the field. Players who have played for India and have done consistently well in T20 and IPL will be selected.”

If we look at the latest form of the players Shubhman Gill And one of Yashasvi Jaiswal may be out of the World Cup team. If the selectors give a chance to both, then one of Rinku Singh and Shivam Dubey may be out. The selectors will also have to wrestle a lot for the position of second wicketkeeper, for this Sanju Samson will have to fight with Jitesh Sharma, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan.

A lot has become clear regarding the place of Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya. Both the players will be seen playing in the upcoming tournament. However, Pandya’s bowling still remains a matter of concern for the team. Whereas the places of captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav seem to be confirmed.
