After the T20 World Cup 2024, Gautam Gambhir replaced Rahul Dravid as the head coach of India in all three formats. Gambhir’s tenure as head coach has been mixed so far. Team India won the T20 series 3-0 in the Sri Lanka tour. At the same time, they had to face a 0-2 defeat in the ODI series.

Meanwhile, recently former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag gave his opinion on the role of the head coach. Sehwag believes that this responsibility is not as difficult as it may seem from the outside. He also explained the reason why the players will have more burden than Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir is there to help them all- Virender Sehwag

Talking about the interview given to Amar Ujala, Virender Sehwag said,

I don’t think it is a challenging role because it involves other professionals as well. The team has recently won the T20 World Cup and the players know their roles. Gambhir’s arrival will give clarity to the players. It will be an added advantage. The challenges will be less for Gambhir and more for the players, because now they will feel that after the T20 World Cup they have to win the Champions Trophy or the WTC Final or the World Cup. But of course, Gambhir is there to help all of them.

Sehwag never wants to become the head coach of Team India

Virender Sehwag further revealed why he would never accept the role of Indian coach. However, he has expressed his desire to become an IPL coach. Let us tell you, Sehwag was the mentor of the franchise from 2016 to 2018 after representing Punjab Kings in 2014 and 2015.

Not with the Indian cricket team, but if the IPL gives me a coaching opportunity, I can definitely consider it. If I become the head coach of India, I will have to return to the same routine that I have done for 15 years. To play for the Indian team, you have to stay out for 8-9 months a year. If I become the head coach of India, staying away from my children will be the biggest challenge for me. I will not be able to give time to my children. But yes, if the role of coach or mentor is available in the IPL, I can accept it.

Let us tell you, the second Test between the two teams was played in Multan, where the first Test was played. Meanwhile, former England player Nasir Hussain has warned the Pakistan cricket team. He said that Pakistan will not be able to achieve long-term success by playing on old pitches, where their spinners can overwhelm the opposition team. Nasir Hussain gave a big statement after the match ended After the end of the second Test match, Nasser Hussain while talking on Sky Sports said, You can’t tell me that last week’s game was better than this week’s, you can’t tell me that if you’re local to this part of the world you can come in 40 degree heat and see 560 players playing against 800 players. Will see. You get to come and watch your team play and win on a pitch that offers something new. Nasir Hussain further said, This cannot be good for the future of cricket in Pakistan, to keep playing on the same surface. But they need to take a look at their surfaces, and if they find a winning formula – stick to it. Stay with this team, stay with these two spinners, stay with the batting lineup, stay with the selectors and the captain. Have some kind of continuity. Pakistan captain Shan Masood won the toss and chose to bat first in the second test. The pitch continued to deteriorate for the batsmen and England, who had to bat last, were unable to withstand the sustained pressure exerted by spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan. The English team was all out for 144 runs while chasing the target of 297 runs. All 20 wickets for England were taken by Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, as both benefited from the pitch conditions.
