New Zealand’s star opening batsman Devon Conway has recently been found Covid positive. Due to this, he has also been ruled out of the fourth T20 match to be played against Pakistan at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. The left-handed player was found Covid positive on Thursday and is currently in isolation at the team hotel in Christchurch.
According to a statement issued by New Zealand Cricket (NZC), senior Canterbury batsman, Chad Bowes has been called up as Conway’s replacement. Conway is not the only one who has been told to isolate. New Zealand’s bowling coach Andre Adams has also been infected with Corona virus for this series and he has also been asked to isolate.
Mitchell Santner was also Covid positive before Devon Conway
Let us tell you that just before the start of the series, New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner was also found Covid positive. But later he rejoined the team after his test came negative. Mitchell Santner is currently commanding the team in the absence of injured Kane Williamson.
Let us tell you that, New Zealand has already won this five-match bilateral series and hence, Conway’s unavailability will not affect the outcome of the competition. However, the Kiwis would like to win the series to improve their T20I record at home.
The New Zealand team, which has already won the series by winning the first three matches of the series, will try to whitewash Pakistan. Whereas Pakistan will try to save this match. Ever since Shaheen Shah Afridi took command of Pakistan’s T-20 team, the team is looking for its first win. While on one hand Babar Azam has scored consecutive half-centuries in all three matches, the other batsmen are not able to bat as per expectations.
