BGT series starting from 22nd November
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test series is starting with the first Test match to be held in Perth on 22 November. Optus Stadium pitch curator Isaac McDonald has said that leaving 10 mm of grass on the pitch will provide a lot of pace and bounce. As a result, both sides are expected to field a high number of fast bowlers in their squad to win the match.
Keeping this in mind, the role of a traditional spinner in the match becomes minimal. It is understandable that India might stick to Ravindra Jadeja for his all-round abilities in the Perth Test, but former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has advised India head coach Gautam Gambhir not to drop R Ashwin from the playing eleven. Has warned.
Sourav Ganguly gave a big statement
Before the first Test match to be held in Perth, Sourav Ganguly was quoted by NDTV as saying – There is no debate, Ashwin should play. Your best spinner must play. Specialists play in Test cricket. Also, considering the number of left-handed batsmen in the Australian team, Ashwin is sure to have an impact in the match.
Ganguly further said- Yes, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar bat well there, but you should play with your best spinner in the first Test match. My preference is that you play with your specialist batsmen and bowlers, Ashwin is my choice in the match.
