Senior Pakistan batsman Babar Azam suffered a massive drop in the ICC Test rankings on Wednesday, August 28. Babar has dropped from third place to the 9th spot due to his consistent failures in recent Test matches.

His decline came after a poor performance in the first Test match against Bangladesh in home conditions. At the same time, Mohammad Rizwan has jumped 7 places to reach the 11th position due to his good performance.

Where are Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the ICC rankings?

According to the ICC press release issued on Wednesday, “Babar Azam has dropped six places from third to ninth after failing in the first innings of Pakistan’s Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. At the same time, Mohammad Rizwan has achieved a new career high rating by gaining seven places to reach 11th position by scoring a century in the same match.”

England’s Harry Brook topped the Test batsmen’s rankings on 28 August. Brook has now climbed three places to fourth in the list. Brook’s rise in the rankings and Babar’s fall also benefited Indian batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli in the rankings. Jaiswal has moved up one place to 7th position and Kohli has moved up two places to 8th position.
