BCCI officials are not happy with the performance of the Indian team in the three-match Test series against New Zealand on home soil. The Rohit Sharma-led team could not put any kind of pressure on the visiting team and suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat in the series. This is India’s first whitewash on home soil in 24 years.

A lot has been said in recent times about the future of Test cricket. However, after the defeat in this home series, BCCI feels that the time for massive changes is coming soon. Questions are being raised on the form of senior cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and according to a source close to BCCI, this could be their last home Test series.

Furthermore, the source also said that the upcoming Australia series is extremely important and if the team is unable to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, immediate action will be taken and changes will be seen in the England series next year.

If India does not qualify for the WTC final…

A senior BCCI source said, the stock will definitely be taken and it may be of informal nature as the team leaves for Australia on November 10. But it has been a big defeat, but the Australia series is around the corner and the team has already been announced, so there will be no tinkering.

The source further said, but if India does not qualify for the WTC final, it is possible that all four super seniors may not travel to the UK for the upcoming five-Test series. In such a situation, all four have probably played their last Test together on home ground.
