Big news for Indian fans, ICC reveals the qualification process for T20 World Cup 2026


Reserve days will be available for the semi-finals and final in the T20 World Cup 2024.

International Cricket Council (ICC) on 15 March ICC Men’s T20 World Cup The qualification process for 2026 has been approved. The ICC at its Executive Board meeting held in Dubai today confirmed the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and the qualification process, where 20 teams will participate.

India and Sri Lanka will together host the T20 World Cup in February and March in 2026, where 20 teams will face each other in 55 matches, the format of which is similar to the upcoming mega event. The 2024 T20 World Cup will be played in West Indies and USA in June this year.

ICC has also approved the qualification process for T20 World Cup 2026

Meanwhile, 12 teams, including the two hosts India and Sri Lanka, will automatically qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, while eight teams will play regional qualifiers for a place in the mega event. Additionally, the top eight teams will be part of the automatic qualification for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 and the remaining spots will be filled by the next highest ranked teams.

“The ICC Board has also approved the qualification process for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026,” the ICC said in an official media release. There will be 12 automatic qualifiers in this tournament to be held in India and Sri Lanka.

These will include the top eight teams of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, as well as the joint hosts, and the remaining places (between 2-4 depending on the final position of the hosts) in the ICC Men’s T20I Ranking Table as of 30 June 2024. Will be filled by the next highest ranked teams. The remaining eight teams will be selected through regional qualifiers.”

ICC confirmed reserve day

Let us tell you, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has also confirmed that reserve days will be available for the semi-finals and final in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The ICC also said that for results to be considered in the group and Super Eight stages, the team batting second will have to bowl at least five overs. However, in knockout matches, at least 10 overs must be bowled in the second innings for the game to be successful.

Mohammed Shami (Image Credit- Twitter X) Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s childhood coach Mohammed Badruddin has revealed that he is fully prepared for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Badruddin said the Bengal fast bowler will leave for Australia to join the Indian team after the second Border-Gavaskar Test in Adelaide. Shami recently returned to the cricket field through Ranji Trophy and he also took 4 wickets in the first innings against Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, he also played a quick inning of 37 runs in 36 balls for his team in the second innings, which included 2 fours and 2 sixes. Mohammed Shami will go to Australia After this brilliant performance of the fast bowler, there were reports that he is all set for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Now his childhood coach has confirmed that Shami will go to Australia. Badruddin was quoted by the Indian Express as saying that he will join the Indian team after the Adelaide (second) Test. Now that he has made a comeback, has proved his fitness, has taken wickets, he will prove to be important for the team in the second half of the tour. Let us tell you that Mohammed Shami last played in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He was the bowler taking the highest number of wickets (24) in the tournament. The last Test match he played was the final of the World Test Championship in 2023. Team India suffered a crushing defeat in the home test series. It is noteworthy that the Indian team has reached Australian soil and is practicing vigorously. The first Test match between Australia and India will be played in Perth from 22 November. Indian captain Rohit Sharma will not be available for this first test. In such a situation, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah will take command of the team. The Indian team is under a lot of pressure before BGT 2024-25, as it recently suffered a crushing 0-3 defeat against New Zealand in the home Test series. Now it remains to be seen how the Indian team performs in Australia.
