The losing streak of Mumbai Indians in the opening match of IPL continued for the 12th consecutive year. In this match held on Sunday, Mumbai lost to its new captain Hardik Pandya’s former team Gujarat Titans. Hardik batted at number seven in this match and his decision surprised many people. However, this decision was not taken only by Hardik but by the entire team management, said Mumbai batting coach Kieron Pollard.

In this match, Mumbai team was in a good position while chasing the challenge of 169 runs given by Gujarat. They needed 43 runs from 30 balls with seven batsmen left. However, Mumbai could score only seven runs in the next two overs and lost the wicket of Dewald Brevis (46) who was frozen to the ground. After this, instead of batting at number six, Hardik sent Tim David. Former cricketer Irfan Pathan had also raised questions on this decision of Hardik.

Actually, Tim David could score only 11 runs in 10 balls. Then Hardik, who came to bat at number seven, hit a six and a four respectively on the first two balls of the last over. However, Mumbai’s hopes of victory ended when Umesh Yadav was dismissed on the third ball of the over and ultimately Mumbai lost by six runs.

Kieron Pollard supported Hardik Pandya’s decision to bat at number seven.

They said, “It would be wrong to say that the decision to bat at number seven was Hardik alone. As a team we plan. We consider which batsman can perform best in which conditions of the match. In this match our opening batsmen batted for a long time. Apart from this, we had two batsmen who had the ability to hit in the last over. David played the role of a match-winner for us last season.”

“When Hardik was in Mumbai, he has been winning us matches for years. But sometimes they may also fail. Only Hardik should not be blamed. This was the decision of all of us and we support Hardik.”

Pollard came out in support of his captain, so it is not right to blame Hardik alone for any decision.

To reach the WTC final, Team India will have to win the BGT series 4-0. Marnus Labuschagne and Virat Kohli Virat Kohli is performing poorly with the bat at the moment. He is struggling to score runs continuously. He has not scored a century in Tests since the West Indies tour in 2023. Even in the recent Bangladesh and New Zealand series, he could not do anything special. He could score only 93 runs in the three-Test series against New Zealand. In the New Zealand series, all the Indian batsmen were seen struggling against spin. Kohli was also struggling to counter the spin. Indian veterans have also given him suggestions and advice on his poor batting. Meanwhile, Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne recalled Kohli’s performance in 2018. He also said that the batsmen are missing the same performance. Labuschagne told Star Sports, my first memory of Virat from a sporting perspective was probably the 2018 series. He was the captain at that time and I think he was very intense. When I watched the series, it was a very intense series. I probably haven’t seen Virat like that after that series. He has been doing well for a long time, but this is my first memory. BGT will have to win 4-0 to reach WTC finals It is noteworthy that after the defeat at the hands of New Zealand on home soil, the Indian team is going to play the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. India has never lost a BGT series since 2016–17. They have won the series on both occasions since 2016. The BGT 2024-25 series is very important for India, because to reach the World Test Championship final, Team India will have to win this series 4-0. That means it is very important to win at least 4 out of five matches. Currently, Australia is on top in the WTC points table followed by India at second place.

‘Rahul Dravid’s mind is better than Gautam Gambhir’, former Pakistani cricketer raised questions on the Indian head coach.

Recently India lost the test series against New Zealand by 0-3. Gautam Gambhir (Pic Source-X) After Rahul Dravid stepped down from the post, Gautam Gambhir has become the head of the Indian team and under his leadership, Team India has suffered two major historic defeats. Recently, India lost the Test series against New Zealand 0-3, after which many questions have been raised regarding Gambhir’s coaching. However, Rohit Sharma has defended him. Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has called Rahul Dravid a better coach than Gautam Gambhir. Basit said that Rahul Dravid was a smart coach who knew what kind of pitch India needed to prepare to win on home soil. In the video shared on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali said that Rahul Dravid’s mind is better than Gautam Gambhir. Dravid made pitches for four days where the ball took turn in the last few days. Now you are making such pitches, where even a person who is not a regular spinner is getting a lot from the first day. Dravid knew the psychology of players – Basit Ali Basit Ali also said that Rahul Dravid was a good coach. He knew the psychology of the players. If you ask Virat Kohli to play T10 and T20 in Test cricket, then it is not fair in any way. Let us tell you that Gambhir’s tenure as India’s head coach has had a disappointing start. Under his leadership, the Indian team lost its bilateral series against Sri Lanka in 27 years. After the New Zealand series, Team India will now tour Australia for the Border-Gavaskar series in November. India needs to win this series 4-0 to make it to the World Test Championship final.
