The England Cricket Board has appointed Brendon McCullum as the white-ball head coach. Let us tell you, former New Zealand veteran Brendon McCullum has been serving as England’s red-ball head coach since 2022. Now he will play the role of England’s head coach in all three formats. McCullum has extended his contract till the end of 2027, which the board has termed as a “strategic restructure”.

Brendon McCullum will take over as both Test and white-ball head coach from January 2025. Marcus Trescothick, England’s interim head coach for the upcoming series against Australia, will remain in the role until the West Indies tour in November.

Brendon McCullum expressed happiness after becoming the white-ball head coach of the England cricket team and said,

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Test team, and I am excited to transition my role to the white-ball team. This new challenge is something I am ready to accept, and I am looking forward to working closely with Jos (Buttler) and the team to build on the strong foundations that are already in place. Rob Key’s vision for the future of English cricket is something that really impressed me.

Brendon McCullum thanked the ECB and his family for their support and emphasised that the English team has a lot of talent and he will help the players reach their full potential.
