Champions Trophy: ICC’s tension is not ending, broadcasters put pressure on releasing the schedule

The hosting of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is in the hands of Pakistan. BCCI has made it clear that the Indian team is not going to tour Pakistan for the tournament. The board had already told that the decision on whether the team will travel or not will be taken by the Government of India and the government has not given approval due to security reasons.

Recently there was a report that Pakistan Cricket Board sent a letter to ICC saying that whether India plays in the tournament or not, they will not give up hosting. PCB has also warned ICC that they will boycott any ICC event in future. On the other hand, ICC is being pressured by broadcasters to release the Champions Trophy 2025 schedule as soon as possible.

Let us tell you, broadcasters acquired the rights of ICC events till 2027 for US $ 3 billion. This deal also includes exciting matches between India and Pakistan. According to The Nation, Pakistan, broadcasters are waiting for the day of the schedule to be released to continue with their marketing and commercials.

India last toured Pakistan in 2008. The last bilateral series between the two teams was played in India in 2012–13 and since then the two teams have faced each other only in ICC events. Due to this, there is more enthusiasm among the fans for the India vs Pakistan match.

Pakistan Cricket Board will seek help from the government

According to a report by BBC Sport, the Pakistan Cricket Board has sent the letter received by the ICC to its government, so that they can give advice. A PCB spokesperson said,

The PCB has received an email from the ICC, stating that the BCCI has informed them that their team will not be traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. PCB has sent that email to the Government of Pakistan for advice and guidance.

It is noteworthy that during IPL 2024, Deshpande was one of the important fast bowlers of the CSK camp. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad handed the ball to Deshpande several times in the last overs and he remained true to his captain’s decision. In the last season of IPL, Tushar took 17 wickets in 13 matches played for five-time champion CSK, while Tushar played an important role in making Chennai the champion in the year 2023. This season, Tushar had taken 23 wickets in 16 matches played.
