On September 28, 1984, the first floodlit one-day match outside Australia was played in New Delhi. Kepler Wessels, known primarily as a Test player, played some spectacular shots in the contest. He scored 107 runs, the only ODI century of his career, helping Australia register a comfortable 48-run win over India in the first match of the five-match series.
