Chepauk has become the first stadium where most number of IPL finals have been played.
The IPL 2024 final was played on 26 May between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata won the third IPL title by winning by 8 wickets. At the same time, Pat Cummins’ Hyderabad team played brilliantly throughout the season, but could not give their 100 percent in the final.
Kolkata Knight Riders have created history by winning the IPL trophy after 10 years. But Chennai Super Kings’ home ground MA Chidambaram Chepauk Stadium has also made a big record in its name. In fact, Chepauk has become the first stadium where most IPL finals have been played.
Three IPL finals have been played at Chepauk so far
After the IPL 2024 final between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chepauk Stadium has become the first venue to host three IPL finals. This was the first time that an IPL final was played at Chepauk and the CSK team was not a part of it. Before this season’s final, the finals of IPL 2011 and 2012 were played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk. Chennai Super Kings became the winner in 2011 under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. At the same time, in 2012, Kolkata Knight Riders became the champion for the first time under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir by defeating Chennai at their home.

Chepauk fans chanted CSK-CSK in the IPL 2024 final
The IPL 2024 final was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. But the fans present in Chepauk were seen chanting CSK-CSK. The video of which is becoming very viral on social media. After the victory in the final, when KKR owner Shahrukh Khan was taking a victory lap, he was also seen chanting CSK-CSK along with the fans.
