This season Rishabh Pant has not got a chance to play in even a single match.
Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Ricky Ponting has said some important things about Prithvi Shaw. DC will play against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 31. In such a situation, there is only one question in everyone’s mind that will Prithvi Shaw get a chance in the match against Chennai? Because the franchise had David Warner and Mitchell Marsh opening in the first two matches of the season.
This pair has not proved to be that successful for DC so far, the team has not won both these matches. Speaking to the media before the DC vs CSK match, Ponting expressed his support for Shaw and talked about the efforts he is making. He also said that due to team combination, they did not get a place for Shaw in the first two matches.
Head coach Ricky Ponting gave a big statement regarding Prithvi Shaw
Ricky Ponting said, “Yes, he (Shaw) is definitely pushing for it. He has worked hard in the last few weeks. Obviously, our team came into the first match obviously without (Enrique) Norkhia, which allowed us to play four overseas batsmen. So because of this we promoted Mitchell Marsh to the top order due to which Prithvi Shaw did not get a place in the team.
Ponting said that Shaw’s selection will be considered based on his performance in the training session before the match. He said, “So, yes, we will keep a very close eye on Prithvi during training and see how well he plays in the nets. And if he impresses everyone today, we will definitely consider his selection.”
Let us tell you that Delhi has played two matches this season, where they have lost both the matches. Pant’s team will play its third match of the season today in Visakhapatnam, where it would like to win at any cost.
