The first season of the Delhi Premier League will be played from 17 August to 8 September at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The first season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) is going to start soon. Through this league, young players from Delhi and across the country will get a chance to showcase their talent. Meanwhile, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has appointed former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag as the brand ambassador of the league. This announcement was made during the launch event of the league held in Delhi.
Virender Sehwag expressed his happiness
Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley expressed his happiness over Virender Sehwag becoming the brand ambassador and said during the league’s launch event,
We are honoured to have Virender Sehwag, one of India’s legendary cricketers, as the brand ambassador of DPL. His passion for the game and his deep roots in Delhi cricket make him the perfect choice to inspire and guide the next generation of players. His involvement will play a huge role in the success of the league.
Virender Sehwag also expressed his happiness after becoming the brand ambassador of Delhi Premier League. He said,
I am excited to be a part of the Delhi Premier League as a brand ambassador. Delhi has always been close to my heart and I believe this league will provide a great platform for the young and talented cricketers from the region to shine. I am looking forward to it.
A total of 6 teams will participate in the league
The first season of Delhi Premier League (DPL) will be played from 17 August to 8 September at Arun Jaitley Stadium. A total of 40 matches will be played in the first season, 33 in the men’s category and 7 in the women’s category. A total of 6 teams will participate in the league, including South Delhi Superstars, Old Delhi 6, Central Delhi Kings, North Delhi Strikers, West Delhi Lions and East Delhi Riders. The names of the 6 franchises and their owners were revealed during the launch event of the league. Let us tell you that a total of 6 men’s teams were sold for Rs 49.65 crore.
