Former India head coach Rahul Dravid was present during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) final at the iconic Chepauk Stadium. Rahul Dravid has fond memories of playing at this ground, where he has been playing since his junior days, and he also completed 10,000 runs in Test cricket by scoring a century against South Africa at this very ground.
What did Rahul Dravid say about Chepauk Stadium?
Reminiscing the old memories, Rahul Dravid said that the stadium has changed a lot since his early days but the support of the fans and the admiration for the players hasn’t changed at all. He said that the fans understand the game very well and it is an honour to play at this iconic venue.
Dravid while talking to Star Sports Tamil said-
“Yeah, I think some of my best memories are actually playing league cricket here, playing league cricket in the old days, growing up here and the stadium looked very different back then. It’s beautiful to see all the concrete stands and how all these things have changed now. But I would like to say again it was a great experience playing league cricket here.”
“I have played a lot of international cricket here, and it is always great to play in front of this crowd. Because it is one of the most supportive and appreciative crowds in the country. This crowd really knew cricket and loved cricket. So, (I) love playing at Chepauk. (I) scored my 10,000th run on this ground, so it was a really nice, special moment.”
Dravid recently resigned as head coach after a stunning victory in the T20 World Cup final. Meanwhile, Dindigul Dragons, led by R Ashwin, have won the TNPL 2024 trophy by defeating Lyca Kovai Kings by 6 wickets.
