Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are two of the greatest players of Indian cricket. In December 2009, Virat Kohli scored a century in the ODI match against Sri Lanka, in the same match Gautam Gambhir played an innings of 150 runs and was selected as the Player of the Match. But in the post-match presentation, Gambhir handed over his award to young Virat. Both the players were also part of the 2011 World Cup winning team.

However, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli have made more headlines due to their clashes on the field. After becoming the head coach of Team India, Gambhir, while talking about his relationship with Kohli, said that both are passionate people on the field and it is completely normal to fight for their respective teams. Meanwhile, former Indian player Piyush Chawla, who has been a teammate of both the players, has recently shared an interesting anecdote.

Piyush Chawla revealed that there was never any rift between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. The former spinner recalled the conversation that took place during the ODI World Cup 2023. When he and Gambhir were part of a show and a question was asked about Kohli, which he could not answer, but Gambhir did.

Piyush Chawla, while talking on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, said,

Gauti bhai and I were doing a show. A question was asked, ‘When Virat completed his 50th century, off which bowler did he take a single? I couldn’t answer this, but Gambhir replied, he was like, ‘Now don’t say that there is a fight.’ Gauti bhai is all class, he is one of the best.

Piyush Chawla further said that if Gautam Gambhir sees talent in someone then he motivates them and gives full support.
