Duleep Trophy, IND-A vs IND-D: The third match of the second round of Duleep Trophy 2024 was being played between India-A and India-D in Anantapur from 12 September. In the match, India-D team was all out for 301 runs while chasing the target of 488 runs and India-A won by a huge margin of 186 runs.
This is India-D’s second consecutive defeat under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. At the same time, India-A achieved its first victory under the captaincy of Mayank Agarwal.
IND-A vs IND-D: India-A had scored 290 runs in the first innings
India-D captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first. India-A could only score 290 runs in the first innings. The team lost 5 wickets at a score of just 93. Openers Mayank Agarwal (7) and Pratham Singh (7) both could not play big innings. Riyan Parag (37), Tilak Verma (10) and Shashwat Rawat (15) also lost their wickets cheaply.
There was a partnership of 51 runs for the sixth wicket between Kumar Kushagra and Shams Mulani. Kumar Kushagra scored 28 runs in 66 balls. After this, Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian played an important partnership of 91 runs for the seventh wicket. Tanush Kotian played an innings of 53 runs with the help of 6 fours and a six in 80 balls. At the same time, Shams Mulani scored 89 runs with the help of 8 fours and 3 sixes in 187 balls.
In the first innings for India-D, Harshit Rana took 4 wickets for 51 runs in 17.3 overs. Vidwath Kaverappa and Arshdeep Singh took 2-2 wickets. Whereas, Saransh Jain and Saurabh Kumar took 1-1 wickets.
India D were all out for 183 in the first innings
India-D team was all out for 183 runs in the first innings. Batsmen like captain Shreyas Iyer (0) and Sanju Samson (5) disappointed the team a lot. Devdutt Padikkal played the highest innings of 92 runs with the help of 15 fours in 124 balls. At the same time, Harshit Rana contributed by scoring 31 runs.
For India-A, Khalil Ahmed and Aaqib Khan took 3-3 wickets each. Whereas, Prasidh Krishna, Tanush Kotian and Shams Mulani took 1-1 wickets each.
IND-A vs IND-D: India-A declared the second innings at 380
India-A batsmen played brilliantly in the second innings. There was a partnership of 115 runs for the first wicket between Mayank Agarwal and Pratham Singh. Mayank Agarwal scored 56 runs in 87 balls. Pratham Singh played an innings of 122 runs with the help of 12 fours and a six in 189 balls. Tilak Verma scored 111* in 193 balls and Shashwat Rawat scored an unbeaten 64 runs in 88 balls. On the basis of which India-A declared the innings at a score of 380 after the 98th over.
In the second innings, India-D’s bowlers could not do anything special. Saurabh Kumar took two wickets for 110 runs in 26 overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer took one wicket.
India-D could not chase the target of 488 runs
Chasing the target, India-D had scored 62 runs for the loss of one wicket by the end of the third day. Yash Dubey (15*) and Ricky Bhui (44*) were present at the crease. On the fourth day, the team lost five big wickets at a score of 220. Yash Dubey (37), Devdutt Padikkal (1), Shreyas Iyer (41) and Sanju Samson (40) could not play big innings. Ricky Bhui played an innings of 113 runs in 195 balls with the help of 14 fours and 3 sixes, but he could not lead the team to victory.
In the second innings, Tanush Kotian took 4 wickets for 73 runs in 21 overs for India-A. Shams Mulani took 3 wickets, while Khalil Ahmed and Riyan Parag took 1 wicket each.
