BCCI vs Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan: Former Indian fast bowler Praveen Kumar has shared his views on the ongoing debate over players giving more importance to franchise cricket than representing their country.

Actually, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has banned Shreyas Iyer (Shreyas Iyer) and Ishaan Kishan (Ishan Kishan) were not given annual central contracts for the 2023–24 season due to their refusal to play for their respective state teams in Ranji Trophy 2024.

‘Earn money, who is refusing?’: Praveen Kumar

Although Praveen Kumar admitted that it is not wrong for players to earn money through leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL), he praised players like Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan for domestic success. Suggested to give importance to cricket also. Let us tell you, after BCCI’s rebuke, Shreyas Iyer played in the semi-finals for Mumbai against Tamil Nadu.

Praveen Kumar was quoted by Times of India as saying, “I have been saying this for a long time. Earn money, who is saying no? Money should be earned, but it should not be such that you are not playing domestically, not giving importance to the country. This thing has now firmly settled in the minds of the players.”

‘This is not right at all’

Praveen Kumar further said, “I will take rest for a month before, then play IPL. This happens mentally. This happens because mentally you are not ready to give up that much money. But this is not correct at all. A player needs to balance things. Money is important, but giving priority to franchise cricket is wrong.”
