Joe Root scored the 34th century of his Test career against Sri Lanka
Former England cricket team captain and one of the best batsmen in the world, Joe Root has created history in Test cricket. He has now reached the number one spot in terms of scoring the most centuries (34) for England.
Root has achieved this feat on the third day of the ongoing second test match against Sri Lanka. It is worth noting that Cook was on the top in terms of scoring the most centuries (33) for England, but now Root has left him behind.
It was not easy for Root to do this, but due to his amazing batting and consistency, he has been successful in making this special record of Test cricket in his name. Apart from this, he has reached the 10th position in terms of scoring the most centuries in Test cricket history.
On the other hand, 33-year-old Root’s 34th Test century was seen in a very entertaining manner at Lord’s ground. England had lost 8 wickets for 196 runs at one time in the second innings of the match. But during this time Root continued his partnership with tailender Ollie Stone and completed his 34th century by hitting a brilliant cover drive against Lahiru Kumara. Also, let us tell you that when Root overtook Cook in terms of this record, Cook was present in the stadium.

Apart from this, Joe Root also scored 143 runs in the first innings of this match. With this, he has become the fourth player in the world to score a century in both innings at Lord’s ground. Before Root, George Hadlee, Graham Cooch and Michael Vaughan have achieved the feat of scoring a century in both innings at Lord’s.
