England vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test: The second day of the second test match being played between England and Sri Lanka at the historic Lord’s ground ended today on Friday, 30 August. After the second day’s play, England has gained a strong hold over Sri Lanka.

In reply to England’s first innings of 427 runs, Sri Lanka’s first innings was limited to just 196 runs. On the basis of the first innings, the Sri Lankan team lagged behind the host team by 231 runs. After this, at the end of the second day, England has scored 25 runs at the loss of 1 wicket after 7 overs in the second innings.

Earlier in the match, after England was all out for 427 runs in 102 overs in the first innings, Sri Lanka started batting in the first innings. However, after this, the entire Sri Lankan team was reduced to just 196 runs in 55.3 overs against England’s brilliant bowling. For Sri Lanka, only Kamindu Mendis was able to play a big innings of 74 runs. Apart from this, no other player was able to score more runs.

Sri Lanka’s first wicket fell in the 7th over of the innings, when Nissan Madhushka was bowled out by Chris Woakes on a total score of 7 runs. After this, Sri Lanka continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Chamika Karunaratne 7, Pathum Nissanka 12, Angelo Mathews 22, Dinesh Chandimal 23 and captain Dhananjay de Silva could not even open the account, he was caught out by Gus Atkinson at the hands of Chris Woakes.

At the end of the second day, England has scored 25 runs at the loss of 1 wicket after 7 overs in the second innings. At present, opener Ben Duckett 15* and captain Ollie Pope are present at the crease with 2* runs. Dan Lawrence was caught out against Lahiru Kumara after scoring 7 runs. With this, England now has a strong lead of 256 runs over Sri Lanka.
