Ben Stokes was awarded a special ‘Silver Cap’ (Cricket Silver Cap) to celebrate his achievement of completing 100 Tests.
The first Test match of the 3-match Test series between England and West Indies starts on July 10. Before the start of the second day of the first Test match between England and West Indies at Lord’s, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) awarded captain Ben Stokes a special ‘Silver Cap’ (Cricket Silver Cap) to celebrate the achievement of completing 100 Tests.
ECB chairman Richard Thompson presented the cap to Stokes, who played his 100th Test during the tour against India earlier this year. However, the board decided to honour its captain at home, which is why the award was given on the second day at Lord’s. The cap could have been presented on the first day itself, but the first day of the Lord’s Test was dedicated to James Anderson, who is playing his last match for England.
