The England cricket team has announced the squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Ben Stokes will be seen leading the team. Opening batsman Jack Crowley and fast bowler Dillon Pennington are out of the series due to injuries.

Jordan Cox replaced Jack Crowley

Jack Crowley suffered an injury to the little finger of his right hand during the third match of the last Test series against the West Indies. Crowley has not recovered from the injury, and has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. Young batsman Jordan Cox has been included in the team in place of Jack Crowley.

Dillon Pennington ruled out with hamstring injury

Fast bowler Dillon Pennington was part of the Test series against West Indies, but he did not get a chance to play. The team management backed fast bowlers like Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson and Mark Wood in the last two matches.

After the series ended, captain Ben Stokes had said that if Dillon Pennington is selected for the Sri Lanka series, he will get a chance in the playing 11. But the young bowler has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Pennington got injured while playing during the Hundred League. Playing for Northern Superchargers against Oval Invincibles, he bowled just 5 balls and got injured.

Ollie Stone has got a place in the team in place of Dillon Pennington. Let us tell you that Stone has been included in the team for the first time since June 2021. He has played three Test matches so far.
