England team will start its campaign against Bangladesh
England have announced their squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which begins in October. The team will be led by Heather Knight. Wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath and all-rounder Freya Kemp have been selected in the T20 World Cup squad for the first time, along with Danielle Gibson, who was included in the squad as a traveling reserve for the last edition in South Africa.
The 2023 T20 World Cup will see the highest wicket-taker Sophie Ecclestone along with spinner Linsey Smith, who returned to the England T20 team earlier this year. Fast bowler Lauren will join the team for the preparation camp in Abu Dhabi.
The team will go to Abu Dhabi for training camp
Let us tell you that before the warm-up matches, the England team will go to Abu Dhabi for a training camp (13-24 September). After this, in Group B, they will face Bangladesh, South Africa, Scotland and West Indies in Sharjah and Dubai.
While announcing the team, head coach John Lewis said, “With this group of players, it has become incredibly difficult and tough to select teams and squads. There are many players who are really unfortunate to be out of the team and they will be a big part of what we do with England cricket in the future.
He further said, I think the 15 players selected are a combination of youth and experience and are a balanced team in terms of handling situations and achieving success.
