Younus Khan, who was a part of the Pakistan team at that time, made a big revelation about the situation after Bob Woolmer’s death. Younus Khan said on a Pakistani TV channel, ‘There is no doubt that if Bob Woolmer had remained the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team, things would have been very different today. He would have taken Pakistan cricket to new heights.’

Let us tell you, Younus Khan is one of the best batsmen of Pakistan. Not only this, the experienced batsman is the highest run scorer for his team in Tests. He said that after the match or practice session, he used to constantly talk to Bob Woolmer and tried to improve his cricket.

Younus Khan further said, ‘I was very close to Bob Woolmer because we used to sit together after the match or nets and talk a lot about cricket. I feel bad that we did not sit together after the match against Ireland. Actually I was out without opening my account and was very disappointed with myself. So I went to my room and closed the door. After this, the next morning I did not see him at the breakfast table and later we came to know that he died.’

The former Pakistani player further said, ‘After all this happened in the World Cup, I changed my mindset and became the captain, without thinking about how long my tenure would be in the future.

When the police were talking to us about Bob Woolmer’s death, it felt like torture to all of us. I can understand that it is the responsibility of the player to represent his country in the right way but the officials should have also looked at it in the right way.
