Mumbai Indians managed to register their first win in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 season. Mumbai Indians faced Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in the 20th game of the tournament on 7 April. Batting first, Mumbai Indians performed brilliantly. It was 29-year-old Romario Shepherd who helped Mumbai Indians score a big innings by scoring 32 runs in the 20th over. This over was the turning point of the match, because if Romario had not played a big inning in this over, it would not have been that difficult for Delhi to achieve the target.

Talking about Romario Shepherd’s innings, he came in the 18th over when Hardik Pandya’s wicket fell. He scored unbeaten 39 runs in 10 balls i.e. his strike rate was 390. Out of these 39 runs, 32 runs were scored only in the last six balls. Romario was awarded the Player of the Match award for this brilliant innings. The entire Mumbai camp was surprised to see the sixes and fours of this dashing West Indies batsman.

Speaking in a video released by the IPL on social media platform ‘X’, fellow player Shamar Joseph said Shepherd has always helped him, while also insisting he can hit the ball a long way. On the basis of Shepherd’s explosive innings, the home team made its third highest score in the history of the Indian Premier League.
