Flower has been a former Indian coach
Former Zimbabwe cricket team veteran and former Indian coach Andy Flower has supported Gautam Gambhir to be appointed as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team. It is worth noting that recently Gambhir has been appointed as the new coach of the Indian team.
Flower has worked with Gambhir for two years with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL. Flower has also termed the inclusion of Gambhir in Indian cricket management as an excellent decision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Andy Flower supported Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as head coach
Let us tell you that after Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team, Andy Flower was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying – Well, the first thing he will have to do is give up his Legends League cricket. He (Gautam Gambhir) is a nice person. I really enjoyed working with him. He has a strong opinion, he is very strong and clear about the game.
Flower further said- He is very decisive, he is a very proud Indian. He loves Indian cricket and his position of representing Indian cricket. I think this is a good appointment and he will prove to be successful.
Also, for your information, let us tell you that Gambhir does not have much experience of coaching. He has played the role of mentor in Lucknow Super Giants for two seasons and Kolkata Knight Riders in the last IPL season.
But now it remains to be seen whether the way he proved successful in Test cricket in Australia and England, he would be able to bring the same kind of success to the Indian team during his coaching tenure or not?
