RCB head coach Andy Flower tried to console the players in the dressing room after the home team lost by 25 runs in the record-breaking IPL 2024 match against SRH. Batting first, Hyderabad scored 287 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs on the basis of Travis Head’s century and Heinrich Klaasen’s half-century. This was the biggest score in the history of IPL.
In reply, RCB also batted brilliantly, but the target was so big that the team fell behind by 25 runs. RCB could score only 262 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. A total of 549 runs were scored between the two teams in this match. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, captain Pat Cummins took three wickets for 43 runs. Dinesh Karthik played a courageous inning of 83 runs with the help of 5 fours and 7 sixes in 35 balls to give RCB an impossible victory, but he failed.

This is RCB’s fifth consecutive defeat and they remain at the bottom 10th position in the points table. This was a very difficult match. Sunrisers Hyderabad finished brilliantly and that is why the momentum went out of our hands. We will consider where the mistake happened. We will come back stronger. Now we have to play like knock out. Every match is like a semi-final for us.

In IPL history, no team has qualified for the playoffs with 16 or less points when there are 9 or more teams in the league. And RCB needs to win each of their next 7 matches to reach 16 points. In such a situation, it is impossible for RCB to go to the playoffs.
