Both the cricketers last played for the team in June 2024
A very good news has come for Cricket South Africa (CSA). Let us tell you that the team’s fast bowlers Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee can be seen in action from November. It is worth noting that they have been given rest by the board for the UAE tour, but after this they can be seen playing for the Proteas team in the series against Afghanistan and Ireland.
Apart from this, both the cricketers have not played any cricket for South Africa since June this year. Marco was rested for the West Indies tour, while Coetzee was ruled out due to injury before the tour began. Currently Marco is suffering from a shoulder problem, while Coetzee is suffering from a hip problem.
But even before these recent troubles, CSA had recognised the need to give both bowlers a break as part of a wider plan to keep its fast bowlers fit and performing at their best. The board had given both of them a 12-week conditioning break to protect the cricketers from further injuries.
Rob Walter made a big statement
So, regarding Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee, the team’s head coach Rob Walter said- Both these young players were struggling with chronic physical problems that are predisposed to fast bowling and so we realized that we have to come forward. We have to give these guys the best chance to be able to perform.
Walter further said- At this time obviously the workload of young cricketers has increased a lot, especially on fast bowlers. To ensure that their injuries do not affect their career much. Therefore, we wanted to put them on a conditioning block.
