Bumrah and Ashwin are not playing in Perth Test.
The first Test match between India and Australia is being played at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is very angry after seeing the playing XI with which Team India captain has entered in the first match of the series. Washington Sundar has been included as a spin all-rounder in the playing XI for the first Test, while both senior and experienced Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin have been dropped.
After seeing this decision of the team management, Sunil Gavaskar scolded head coach Gautam Gambhir and stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah for this decision on live TV.

Gavaskar said, ‘It was really surprising that R Ashwin and Jadeja did not play, they have taken 900 wickets in Test matches. He is not a bowler who can play only in Indian or subcontinental conditions. He is a very clever bowler, he is a very experienced bowler. Even if they don’t get you wickets, they will be able to slow down the scoring rate because of the cleverness with which they bowl.
Gavaskar further said, ‘I felt that there are very long boundaries on these Australian wickets, so in such a situation you can include both of them in the playing XI. But this is a new management and new thinking. He has gone with Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is a promising player. There is no fault of his in this, but my only question is, is he completely prepared for Test cricket?
Former legend, ‘He has not played many first class matches and so clearly, I think, this selection of Nitish is based on expectations and nothing less than that. Like all Indian cricket followers, I hope it is successful. The Indian team won the toss and batted first and the entire team was all out after scoring 150 runs.
