The England Cricket Board has also appointed Brendon McCullum as the head coach of the white-ball format. McCullum has been serving as England’s red-ball head coach since 2022. Now he will take over as the head coach of both Test and white-ball from January 2025.
Meanwhile, England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler has expressed happiness about sharing the dressing room with Brendon McCullum. Buttler believes that he and Brendon McCullum are similar as both have aggressive nature. He also stressed that McCullum will help him a lot as a captain.

Jos Buttler, while talking on Sky Sports, said,
I have a little relationship with him (Brendon McCullum) but I am looking forward to spending more time with him. I am looking forward to learning about cricket. He will help me a lot as a captain. We are similar in the way we look at the game. For me, I want this to be the most fun part of my career. I have played for a long time now so maybe the goal of what you want to achieve changes and for me it is to help the boys become what they can be and also prepare them for the bigger events later on.
Butler is also out of the ODI series against Australia
Jos Buttler was ruled out of the T20 series against Australia due to a calf injury. The ODI series between Australia and England is starting on 19 September. Buttler has not yet fully recovered, and he is also out of the ODI series. Harry Brook will be seen captaining the series.
Let us tell you, Jos Buttler has not played any cricket match since losing to India in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024. He suffered an injury while preparing for The Hundred in July, due to which he was ruled out of the tournament. After rehab, he was set to return for Lancashire in the quarter-final match against Sussex in the T20 Blast, but got injured again.
