Australia cricket team’s experienced fast bowler Mitchell Starc was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a record price of Rs 24.75 crore during IPL 2024. Although the fast bowler did not perform well in the league matches, when it came to the final matches including the playoffs, Starc proved his usefulness and played an important role in helping KKR win the title for the third time.

Gautam Gambhir, the team’s mentor at that time and former Indian player, left no stone unturned in getting Starc back in the team. It was because of Gambhir that the Stars played the final match and he proved to be the trump card. Also, let us tell you that till now KKR has won the IPL title a total of three times. During this period, Gambhir has been associated with the team in some way or the other.

Gambhir had made KKR the champion under his captaincy in the years 2012 and 2014, while in the year 2024, due to mentorship, he played an important role in the team’s victory. On the other hand, now Starc has given a big statement regarding his first season in IPL with KKR. Starc says Gambhir is a player with a great understanding of the game.

Let us tell you that in a recent interview with Star Sports, Mitchell Starc said – If I tell my experience in Kolkata, he (Gambhir) is a great thinker of the game. He is always thinking about the opponent and how to get him out as a bowling attack or how to score runs as a batting attack.

Starc further said- It is not just about individual players, it is always about the focus of the team. He can look at how to be on top in small things, be it techniques or field placement or anything like that.
