During the season, there was a lot of commotion and tension between owner Sanjiv Goenka and captain KL Rahul. Ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 auction, there are reports that LSG may release Rahul. Also, his former franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore may show interest in buying him.

Let us tell you, before the IPL 2022 mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants bought Rahul for Rs 17 crore. Amidst speculations of KL Rahul’s retention, LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka has made a big statement. Goenka says that Rahul is an integral part of the team and he is like family to him.

Amidst the news of KL Rahul’s release from LSG, Sanjeev Goenka recently invited KL Rahul to dinner in Kolkata, the pictures of which are going viral on social media. Speaking at a recent press conference, Goenka said,

I am surprised that this meeting is getting so much attention. As I said earlier, we have not considered retention until the BCCI makes a rule. All I can say is that KL has been an important part of the Super Giants family. He has been there from the beginning, has played a very important role. For me personally, he is like family and will remain family.

Sanjeev Goenka further talked about IPL retention, he said that there is enough time and a decision has to be taken carefully as the future of the team depends on it.

We have the entire time of September, October and November to take a decision. We should wait for the retention policy to come. We have not even thought about the future team, whether the retention will be three-four-five or six, we do not know. Let’s see, there is enough time, whatever decision we take today will have an impact on the future, so a decision has to be taken after a lot of thought and consideration.
