Babar Azam is currently going through a bad phase in his career. He could not play a single big innings in both the matches of the Test series against Bangladesh. Fans are seen trolling him fiercely on social media. Meanwhile, former chief selector of Pakistan cricket team Mohammad Wasim has made big revelations about Babar Azam. Wasim told that as a captain, Babar was very stubborn and whenever the selection committee made changes in the team, he used to get upset.

Babar Azam was not ready to accept the change- Mohammad Wasim

While talking on Cricket Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim said,

It was very painful to explain to him the benefits of change. He was very stubborn and I crossed my limits to involve him in some decisions. He was not ready to accept change.

The Pakistan Cricket Board appointed Babar Azam as the captain of all formats in 2020. Under Babar’s captaincy, the team reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021 and the final of 2022. But then he resigned from the captaincy after the team’s poor performance in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Although the board handed over the captaincy of white-ball cricket back to Babar Azam ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, the team’s performance was disappointing. Pakistan was eliminated after the group stage round after losing matches against India and USA.

Mohammad Wasim further said that the four coaches had given the names of some players who were not right for the team. They tried to remove those players from the team, but the management called them back.

I won’t take names, but four coaches said that some players are cancer for the team. If they are part of the team, Pakistan cannot win. I tried to remove them from the team, but the management called them back.

Mohammad Wasim has served as the chief selector of the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team from December 2020 to December 2022. Wasim is currently serving as the head coach of the Pakistan Women’s team.
