Lucknow Super Giants released their captain KL Rahul ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction. During the last edition of the tournament, the keeper-batsman had an intense conversation with owner Sanjiv Goenka after the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad and it is believed that the relationship between them soured after that.
Rahul will now try his luck in the mega-auction and former captain Sourav Ganguly is hopeful that he will get a good team that will understand his importance. He said that after the controversy with Goenka, the pressure might have increased on Rahul and said that the player has to talk to himself and then leave everything behind. He also highlighted that every player goes through ups and downs in his career and something similar happened with the 32-year-old.
Sourav Ganguly gave important advice to KL Rahul before BGT
Ganguly said there is a lot of pressure on Rahul ever since Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) released him ahead of the 2025 mega auction of the cash-rich tournament. “He has to talk to himself,” he said as quoted by RevSportz. He has to talk to himself and say, just leave everything behind. Ups and downs are part of the game. Confidence keeps going up and down. You have to work hard in the nets and get your confidence back.”
Ganguly further said, “I know he has gone through a lot. Lucknow Super Giants have released him. I don’t know if they will buy it back in the auction or not. I am sure he will get a good team and he will be able to recover his price in the IPL, but these things put pressure on players.”
KL Rahul is currently on Australia tour and is part of the five-match Test series. It is considered certain that he will play in the Perth Test match, because Rohit Sharma is not available yet and Shubman Gill is also injured. In such a situation, he can play in the top order. Ganguly also said that if Rohit is not available then KL Rahul should open and Dhruv Jurel should play in the middle order.
Sourav Ganguly defends Gautam Gambhir’s sharp comment on panting, know what Dada said?
The market of rhetoric is hot before the start of BGT between India and Australia. Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir (Image Credit- Twitter X) Cricket fans around the world are eagerly waiting for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series between India and Australia (IND vs AUS) starting from 22nd November. On the other hand, statements are being made continuously by former cricketers before the start of this much-awaited series. In this sequence, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting had expressed concern about former captain and Virat Kohli, who is out of form in Test cricket these days. On this statement of Ponting, the current head coach of the Indian team and former opener Gautam Gambhir had said that he should stop worrying about Kohli’s form and focus on the Australian team. On the other hand, Gambhir has now got the support of former Indian captain and Sourav Ganguly, popularly known as Dada, on this statement. Ganguly says that there is nothing wrong in whatever Gambhir said. Sourav Ganguly defended Gautam Gambhir’s statement Let us tell you that in a recent discussion with Revzsports, Ganguly said – I would just say that let him be. I saw some criticism on what he said in the press conference. He (Gambhir) is like that, let him remain like that. When he won the IPL, it was just like that, you were rooting for him. Just because he has lost three Test matches and one ODI series, the straight thing has not been viewed well. But that’s just the way it is. Ganguly further said- Ever since I have watched cricket, Australians have been difficult for you. He has played his cricket like this, be it (Steve) Waugh, Ponting or (Matthew) Hayden. Therefore, there is nothing wrong in what Gambhir has said. That’s just the way he is, and he fights, he competes. So let’s give him a chance. He has been in coaching only for two-three months and you are passing judgment on him.
