How Sreesanth’s lie took Sanju Samson to IPL , Rajasthan Royals team under the leadership of Sanju Samson is in good form in IPL 2024. Rajasthan Royals have won the most matches in this year’s IPL. Under the leadership of Sanju Samson, Rajasthan has won 8 out of the 10 matches played so far and has 16 points in their account, while they have almost secured their place in the playoffs.

But meanwhile, a video of Sanju Samson is going viral on social media, in which he is telling how his journey in IPL started. Rajasthan Royals captain and the franchise’s most capped player Samson revealed that the conversation between former India fast bowler S Sreesanth and the then Royals captain Rahul Dravid took a different turn in his cricketing career.

What kind of lie did Rahul Dravid tell for Sreesanth’s Sanju Samson?

How Sanju Samson Joined Rajasthan Royals: Sreesanth had lied to Rahul Dravid about Sanju Samson that this boy (Sanju) hits 6 sixes in an over. Actually, Samson had entered IPL in the year 2009 as a player of Kolkata Knight Riders. After a wait of three years, KKR signed Samson ahead of the 2012 IPL. But Sanju Samson did not get a single chance to play and remained on the bench the entire time. Samson was released after KKR won the title in 2012.

Now in the old video which is going viral, Samson says that – “During the match against Rajasthan, Sreesanth had seen Rahul Dravid in the lobby. Then Sreesanth told Rahul Dravid about me – There is a boy from Kerala who has hit six sixes in an over in a local tournament. We should really give him a chance.”

Sanju Samson’s old video went viral

The lie that Sreesanth told about Sanju was decisive for Sanju’s entry into the IPL. Dravid had already caught Sreesanth in a lie, but he had also recognized the potential and skill in Sanju. After Sreesanth spoke, Rajasthan picked Sanju and he has been a key player for Rajasthan Royals since his debut in 2013. Due to his excellent performance he was given the captaincy of the team. Sreesanth had also admitted that he had lied to bring Samson to Rajasthan.

What did Sreesanth talk to Rahul Dravid

Talking about Sanju in an interview last year, he had said, ‘When I introduced Sanju to Rahul Dravid, he listened to me. I lied to him. I said- This boy hit me six sixes in one over in a local tournament. On this Rahul Dravid said- “Sir, say anything, but why are you lying like this?”

Sreesanth further said, “Sanju did not perform well in the first few warm-up matches. But when Rahul Dravid saw him bat, he was convinced. He came and told me, Mr. don’t let this Sanju go for selection anywhere else, we are signing him, I don’t know how many matches he will get but we want him in the team.
