Delhi Capitals registered their first win in IPL 2024 by defeating the mighty Chennai Super Kings. Delhi defeated Chennai by 20 runs and opened their account. Half-centuries from Rishabh Pant (51 runs in 32 balls) and David Warner (52 runs in 36 balls) took the team to 191 runs in 20 overs. After that, Mukesh Kumar’s 3 wickets and Khalil Ahmed’s important 2 wicket spell restricted Chennai to just 171 runs.
Let us tell you that when Chennai came to chase the target, Khalil Ahmed took the first 2 wickets and showed the way to the pavilion to the CSK openers. This was a big turning point in the match because due to this the team faltered and failed to achieve the big target.

Speaking on his Player of the Match performance, Khalil said, “I have been waiting for a long time to perform for the team. When I started, I realized that I was getting a good swing, so I kept the ball as it was and did not give the batsman anything to do. The more you play, the more you will understand your game. The same happened with me because I have been playing continuously for six months, I have understood my game plan, my body and how to manage the little things. This performance of mine has come because of the domestic season, it has given me good confidence before coming into the IPL and it is a great feeling.”

Speaking about the significance of the win, Khalil said, “When you lose consecutive matches, you feel bad. To be honest, I feel very happy with this victory. When you win, you get good momentum, winning helps you understand the good aspects of your game and how you can learn. “This win gave us a lot of answers to our questions, and it will make things easier for our next game.”
Delhi Capitals will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match of IPL 2024 on Wednesday, April 3, at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. It will be interesting to see how Khalil will be able to improve his performance and contribute to the team’s victory?
