On Saturday (April 20), Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Delhi Capitals by 67 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi won the toss and invited SRH to bat first and SRH posted a big score of 266 runs on the board. Chasing the target, DC’s batsmen could not handle the pressure of a big score and could not even bat the full 20 overs and were all out for 199 runs.
Apparently DC captain Rishabh Pant looked disappointed after the match. His emotions were clearly visible while speaking in the presentation after the match. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and legend Sunil Gavaskar tried to encourage Rishabh Pant with his words. Gavaskar said that he did not want the wicketkeeper-batsman to be sad about the defeat. He also said that the tournament is long and he can make a comeback any time.
Sunil Gavaskar called Rishabh Pant heart touching
“I never want you to have your head down, there are a lot of matches left so always keep smiling,” Gavaskar said during the presentation ceremony. In response to this, Pant said, “I will try my best sir.”
Pant said, “The only thought behind choosing to bowl first was that dew might come, which did not come. We would have had a chance if we had restricted SRH to 220-230. Powerplay proved to be the big difference. He scored a lot of runs in the powerplay (125) and we started playing fast after that. In the second innings, the ball was coming more late, which was more than we expected.
But when the score is 260-270 runs then the bowlers have a good chance. Hopefully we will move forward with a clear mindset. McGurk is batting brilliantly so far. That’s what we need to do as a team. We will see what mistakes were made in this match so that we can improve in the next match.
