India have failed to win an ICC title despite reaching the knockout stages consecutively since 2013. In the year 2023, Team India had to face defeat in two final matches against the legendary Australia. Team India suffered its first defeat in the final of the World Test Championship played in June. For the second time, Australia had defeated India in the final of the ODI World Cup.
Speaking to ED Shareen and Gaurav Kapoor on the special episode of Breakfast with Champions on April 12, Rohit opened up about his future plans in his career. They said that, “I haven’t really thought about retirement. But, I don’t know where life takes you. I’m playing well at the moment too – so I’m thinking I’ll continue playing for a few more years and then, I don’t know. I really want to win the World Cup and the WTC final is in 2025, hopefully India will be successful in it.”
Reflecting on India’s performance in the 2023 World Cup, Rohit revealed that the team had performed brilliantly throughout the tournament and one bad day came in the final. Hitman said that, “We played very well until that final. When we won the semi-finals, I thought, now we are just one step away. We are doing all the things right.
What is the thing that can cause our defeat in the World Cup? Not a single thing came to my mind because I felt we had ticked all the boxes, we were playing good cricket.” Rohit concluded by saying, “We all had to admit a bad day and I think that was our bad day. Don’t think that we played bad cricket in that final, some things did not go our way.”
