India’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh won the Player of the Match award against USA in the T20 World Cup 2024. Playing the third match of the tournament, Arshdeep led the pace attack along with Bumrah. Sunil Gavaskar has made a special demand to the BCCI regarding Arshdeep Singh, who was the hero of India’s victory against America. He has talked about giving the fast bowler a chance in red ball cricket. Speaking on Star Sports after USA vs India, Gavaskar said that Arshdeep’s ability to swing the ball both ways was like Jasprit Bumrah.
Sunil Gavaskar praised Arshdeep Singh
Speaking on Star Sports after the match against USA on Wednesday, Sunil Gavaskar said, “Arshdeep pitches the ball at the right length, targets the stumps for right-handers and away from left-handers. He has the ability to bowl the right length for both right-handed and left-handed batsmen. Against the USA, Arshdeep was not focusing on bowling yorkers but on maintaining the length of that ball. His bowling temperament is fantastic.”
During this, Gavaskar compared the fast bowler to Jasprit Bumrah. He said that like Bumrah, Arshdeep can also perform lethally in red ball cricket. The former batsman said, “I think he has the same ability as Bumrah, he will perform well in red-ball cricket.
If he can swing the white ball effectively, he can be equally effective with the red ball. The selectors should seriously consider him as an option for the Test team.”
