In the T20 World Cup, Hardik Pandya has made a huge contribution to the team with both bat and ball. In the final against South Africa, he defended 15 runs in the last over to help the team win by 7 runs. He took 3 wickets in his 3-over spell, including the wickets of Heinrich Klaasen (52) and David Miller (21).

Hardik Pandya has faced a lot of criticism in the last 6 months. When he was captaining Mumbai Indians in place of Rohit Sharma in IPL 2024, the fans booed him.

During the toss, commentator Sanjay Manjrekar got very angry after seeing this action of the fans at Wankhede during the match against Rajasthan Royals, and he asked the fans to ‘behave’ properly. After India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, Sanjay Manjrekar has given a big statement while remembering that incident of IPL.

Hardik Pandya is a big stage player- Sanjay Manjrekar

Recalling that incident of IPL, Sanjay Manjrekar told that he had asked the fans to ‘Behave’ because he knows that Hardik Pandya is a big player in big matches. Talking on ESPNCricinfo, Sanjay Manjrekar said,

What a change for Hardik Pandya. In the IPL, people were mocking him and booing him and I told them to behave well because he is a big-stage player.

Hardik Pandya played a big role in making India the champion by bowling the last over in the final against South Africa. Sanjay Manjrekar says that when Hardik came to bowl the last over, he felt safe. Manjrekar further said,

We have seen the wickets of Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller and finally Rabada countless times, so he was a champion and it is no surprise to see him flourish on the big stage. Even in the semi-final against England he came in and scored 23 off 13 balls to give India some hope. So that is who he is, when he came in to bowl the last over you felt secure, he was not going to panic, he was going to bowl sensibly.

In the T20 World Cup 2024, Hardik Pandya has taken 11 wickets in 8 matches for India, while scoring 144 runs in 6 innings. This also includes a half-century, which he scored against Bangladesh during the Super-8 match.

I think he really is the best player in the world. Honestly, sometimes I think bowling like him is a joke! You see him bowling and you just think, I’m glad I don’t have to come out to bat.” He further said, “I was surprised that India went there (Australia) and defeated Australia, where usually it is very difficult to go and play cricket.
