‘I was shocked why should I…’ – Shikhar Dhawan was shocked when BCCI withdrew from the Asian Games

Shikhar Dhawan has been out of Team India for a long time. He had expressed his desire to play ODI World Cup 2023 for India, unfortunately he could not get a place in the team. The doors of Team India are almost closed for Shikhar Dhawan. Shikhar Dhawan will soon be seen captaining Punjab Kings in IPL 2024.

When Team India was busy preparing for the World Cup. Then a separate team was sent for the Asian Games played in China. Whose captain was Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Fans as well as Shikhar Dhawan were hopeful that he would be selected. But this did not happen at all. Shikhar Dhawan has recently expressed his displeasure over not being selected in the team for the Asian Games.

Shikhar Dhawan while talking to Times Of India said, ‘When my name was not in the Asian Games, I was a little shocked. But then I felt like his thought process was different. You just have to accept it. I have not talked to any selector about my future. I keep going to NCA, I enjoy my time there. The facilities are very good. NCA has shaped my career and I am grateful for it.

Shikhar Dhawan was further asked whether his Test career could have been a little longer. Responding to which he also talked about ‘Age Factor’. Shikhar Dhawan further said, ‘I have not been in the Test team for the last 4-5 years. There is ‘Age Factor’ in the life of every cricketer. The life of a player is different. Because I am not playing test matches. So I will rest my body and stay fresh for the shorter format of the game.

Shikhar Dhawan has captained India in 12 ODIs in 2021 and 2022 and three T20 matches in 2021. But due to Shubhman Gill and Ishan Kishan, he had to lose his place.
