Team India and Mumbai Indians star and famous fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has revealed how he had planned to leave India and go to Canada in the early stages of his career. In an interview with his wife Sanjana Ganesan, Bumrah shared that there was a time when he was planning to leave India with his family and settle in Canada. During the interview, Bumrah jokingly said that if this plan had worked, he might have tried to play for the Canadian cricket team.

Bumrah is one of the best fast bowlers of Team India and the world, and he is also in third place in ICC MEN’S TEST BOWLING RANKINGS with 847 points. Bumrah said that he and his family consider the Canada shift as a ‘backup’ plan for his career.

“Every boy dreams of doing something big and tries to become a cricketer. You go on any street and there will be five players who want to play for India, so you have to have a backup plan. My relatives live there (Canada), so we thought I would complete my studies here and then leave.”

Why didn’t Jasprit Bumrah go to Canada?

“Our entire family had planned to leave but my mother had become a school principal by then. That’s why she didn’t want to go because it was a new, different place and the culture there was also different. So I’m very happy and very fortunate that things worked out for me in India, otherwise I would have played for the Canadian team and tried to make something for myself there.”

Fortunately, this decision to stay in India was very beneficial for Bumrah and today the whole world knows him. He is the most precious gem of India and Mumbai Indians. If he had gone to Canada, perhaps he would not have been at this height today.
