Shaheen Shah Afridi nominated from Pakistan
Today on 7th June, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the names of the female and male cricketers nominated for the ‘Player of the Month’ for the month of May. Let us tell you that those players have got a place in this list who have performed brilliantly in international cricket in the month of May. Let us tell you that the first player to be nominated for this award is Pakistan cricket team’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi. It is worth noting that Shaheen had performed brilliantly against Ireland and England in the T20 series held last month, due to which he has managed to make a place in this list.
Similarly to Shaheen, West Indies cricket team’s spinner Gudakesh Motti was successful in achieving the same performance, due to which he has also been nominated for this award. His ‘Player of the Match’ performance made headlines even after the whitewash by South Africa in the series.
Apart from this, Ireland’s wicketkeeper batsman Lorcan Tucker has also managed to make it to this list. Recently, Tucker had shown amazing batting performance against teams like Pakistan, Netherlands and Scotland before the T20 World Cup. Due to this, Tucker has been nominated for ICC’s Player of the Month award for May.
On the other hand, in the women’s category, Sri Lankan cricket team captain Chamari Atapattu, Scotland captain Katherine Bryce and England’s legendary women cricketer Sophie Aselton have also managed to make it to the list.
