The Indian team has refused to tour Pakistan due to security reasons.
The hosting of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is in the hands of Pakistan. BCCI has made it clear that the Indian team is not going to tour Pakistan for the tournament. The board had already told that the decision on whether the team will travel or not will be taken by the Government of India and the government has not given approval due to security reasons.
There are reports of the tournament being organized in a hybrid model or in some other country. Meanwhile, a big news is coming out that ICC is going to take the final decision regarding hosting of Champions Trophy in the board meeting to be held on 29th November.
These countries will be included in the board meeting
According to the report of ESPNCricinfo, in the upcoming virtual meeting of the ICC, which country will be given the right to host the Champions Trophy, it will be discussed. This meeting will be attended by representatives of 12 full member countries, three associate members, one independent director and ICC. Let us tell you, this meeting will be the last board meeting of ICC Chairman Greg Barclay, who will be replaced by BCCI Secretary Jai Shah from December 1.
PCB does not want to accept hybrid model
The ICC had suggested a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, where India could play its matches at neutral venues without visiting host Pakistan. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board is adamant on hosting the entire tournament in Pakistan.
A few days ago, reports came out that PCB sent a letter to ICC saying that whether India plays in the tournament or not, they will not give up hosting. PCB has also warned ICC that they will boycott any ICC event in future. The PCB says no other countries have expressed concerns about playing in Pakistan.
