Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that if the batsmen have to be stopped from making big scores in modern cricket, then it is very important for the bowlers to take wickets at regular intervals. This will create pressure on the players of the opposing team and they will not be able to score runs fast.

Let us tell you, Harbhajan Singh has played 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20 matches for India. In the Indian Premier League 2024, it was seen that many teams crossed the 200-run mark several times in this season. Not only this, the performance of the bowlers was not so good this season. Harbhajan Singh gave this statement in the fifth episode of ‘180 Not Out’ podcast.

Harbhajan Singh said, ‘I believe that any bowler who says that he will stop the runs cannot stop the runs. Be it Lasith Malinga or any of the best T20 bowlers in the world. Jasprit Bumrah also plays cricket in the modern era. The break happens only when you take a wicket. To take wickets it is necessary to bowl well.

With art you can take wickets. It is not that you have taken a wicket with a full toss and again you are bowling the same ball. This will not happen again and again. It is possible that you may get 6 runs on the next full toss. Economy rate will be good only if you look to take wickets.

By taking wickets you are doing your work as well as that of the team: Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh further said, ‘By taking wickets, you are doing your job and also taking your team forward. This should be the mentality no matter which format of cricket you play. You should think about taking wickets, no matter how many runs are lost. 10-12 runs but if you take two or three wickets then you have done your job and that should be the mentality.

Gautam Gambhir was also in this podcast and he said, ‘Two new balls are given in ODI and this is not right at all. There are bowlers who have taken 400 wickets as finger spinners, of which Ravichandran Ashwin and Nathan Lyon are the best examples but they are not part of the ODI team and that is why finger spinners are very less.

It is very wrong for such players who are taking 400 wickets in Test but are not participating in ODI cricket. According to me, the rule of two new balls in ODI should be changed and cricket should be played with only one ball.

Shreyas Iyer to captain Mumbai in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT): Reports

Tournament is starting from 23rd November Shreyas Iyer (Pic Source-X) Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has reportedly appointed Shreyas Iyer as the captain for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), while Prithvi Shaw has also got a place in the squad. The senior selection committee, which will start from November 23, took this decision on Sunday. So, if Indian Express reports regarding this decision are to be believed, then the appointment of giving the responsibility of captaincy to Iyer has been done because of his impressive track record in the shortest format. It is noteworthy that in IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the title for the third time under the captaincy of Iyer. If this happens, then Mumbai Ranji team captain Ajinkya Rahane can be seen playing under the captaincy of Iyer. On the other hand, opener Prithvi Shaw has also returned in the tournament starting from November 23, who was not included in Mumbai’s Ranji team due to fitness reasons. So due to injuries in this team, some star players have not got a place. This season, Shivam Dubey, Musheer Khan and fast bowler Tushar Deshpande will not be able to play in SMAT from Mumbai due to injury. But despite all this, there is a lot of depth in batting and bowling in the Mumbai team selected for the tournament. The team has experienced players like Shams Mulani and Shardul Thakur, who provide balance to the team in both areas. Full squad of Mumbai team for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25 Prithvi Shaw, Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Jai Bista, Shriraj Gharat, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Suryansh Shedge, Ishan Moolchandani, Siddhesh Lad, Hardik Tamore (wk), Akash Anand (wk), Sairaj Patil, Akash Parkar, Shams Mullani. , Himanshu Singh, Sagar Chhabria, Shardul Thakur, Mohit Awasthi, Sylvester D’Souza, Royston Dias, Yogesh Patil, Harsh Tanna, Irfan Umair, Vinayak Bhoir, Kritik Hanagwadi, Shashank Attard, Junaid Khan.

Suppose I thought of playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but if I am selected by another team, then I may feel bad. It is noteworthy that Hussain has been selected by Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL, but he is worried about playing for Rangpur Riders of Bangladesh in the Global Super League. Hussain further said- I don’t think about any target in advance, I just want to continue it match by match. I will go with the usual plan, because our opponents are from four different teams. I will try my best against them. If you play well at one place, your chances will increase at some other places. I will try to perform well.
