In the first Test match played at Centurion, Elgar scored 185 runs and the African team defeated the visitors by an innings and 32 runs. Rohit Sharma and Co. will hope to better their performance in the second and final Test starting in Cape Town on Wednesday, January 3.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that if India get rid of Elgar early then they can take advantage of South Africa’s ‘weak’ batting. Aakash Chopra said that, “The news from South Africa is that Temba Bavuma is not there. This is Dean Elgar’s last test match and he is going to play as a captain. He also said that forget about runs, his eyes are on the trophy. So he will be very excited about it.”
The former opening batsman further said, “I still feel that the South African batting is weak. If you remove Dean Elgar, it seems that batting is very normal, but it is very difficult to remove Dean Elgar, he does not get out that easily.”
Aakash Chopra believes that if India has to win the second Test match, the batsmen will have to perform well here. He said, “I still think that if India has to do well, they need to bat well. He will have to play five seasons. The truth is that South Africa batted a little more in one innings, while India batted completely in two innings.”
