Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has raised questions on Azam Khan’s fitness. According to Shahid Afridi, considering Azam Khan’s current fitness, the young wicketkeeper batsman should not be included in the Pakistan team. Shahid Afridi said that he would not allow Azam Khan to play for Pakistan until the young player improves his fitness.

Questions have always been raised about Azam Khan’s fitness. Former players have also criticized Azam Khan fiercely. Azam Khan’s performance has always been very good in the Pakistan Super League but he has failed to make a mark in international cricket.

Shahid Afridi while talking on a local TV channel said, ‘Fitness is the most important thing. If you are fit then your body also supports you on the field, whether you are batting or bowling or fielding. A player should always be serious about his fitness. I would never keep Azam Khan around the team if it is a matter of fitness.’

Shahid Afridi further said, ‘While wicket-keeping in England, the ball goes behind the stumps a lot. However, this is not seen in West Indies. The ball mostly stays low and I pray that he does not face much difficulty while wicket-keeping. It is very difficult to wicket-keep with such fitness in the conditions of West Indies against spinners because the ball stays very low here and you also have to keep your body low.’

Pakistan is currently playing a 4-match T20 series against England. The first match between the two teams was cancelled due to rain while the second one was won by England. Now the third match between the two teams will be played today i.e. on 28 May.
