The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise ended its years-long trophy drought by winning the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 title. While the men’s team has not yet won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title, the women’s team was successful in winning the title in the second season of the Women’s Premier League.

As soon as Smriti Mandhana’s team won the title by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final on Sunday, Vijay Mallya, the former owner of the franchise’s men’s team, congratulated the team through social media. Smriti Mandhana (31) and Sophie Devine (32) gave a good start to the Royal Challengers Bangalore team while chasing the target of 114 runs and made a partnership of 49 runs for the first wicket. After this, Ellyse Perry scored 35 runs and Richa Ghosh played an unbeaten inning of 17 runs to take RCB to the threshold of victory.
