Zaheer Khan first dismissed Matthew Sinclair on the first ball of the ODI match against New Zealand in 2001. After this, he took the wicket of Sanath Jayasuriya against Sri Lanka in the final of the 2002 Champion Trophy. Zaheer Khan achieved this feat for the third time in the year 2007. He made Australia’s Michael Clarke his victim on the first ball of the ODI match.

After this, Zaheer Khan took the wicket of Upul Tharanga against Sri Lanka in 2009. Praveen Kumar achieved this great feat by dismissing Upul Tharanga against Sri Lanka in 2010.

The first ODI played between these two teams ended in a tie. India was in a very good position at one point in this match but Sri Lankan bowlers bowled lethally and brought their team back. Earlier, a three-match T20 series was played between these two teams which India won 3-0.
