Let us tell you, due to rain and wet outfield, the play on the second and third days was canceled without even a single ball being bowled.

The fourth day’s play was played in an exciting manner. Bangladesh team was all out for 233 runs in the first innings and Team India declared the first innings at 285/9 in 34.4 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (72), Shubman Gill (39), Virat Kohli (47) and KL Rahul (68) played explosive innings.

Host India had a target of 95 runs to win, which they achieved within 18 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 51 runs in 45 balls and Virat Kohli played an unbeaten inning of 29 runs in 37 balls.

Let us tell you what the Player of the Match and the captains of both the countries said in the post match presentation after the second test-

IND vs BAN: What did the losing captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto say-

We did not bat well in both the test matches. In these conditions we will have to bat well. If you look at our batsmen – we played 30-40 balls and got out. This is important in a Test match, when the batsmen take the field, you should try to score big runs. The way Ashwin and Jaddu batted at that time – they batted really well. As a bowling unit we need to look at those moments – how we can take wickets. Because of that partnership we lost that match. The way Mominul batted in this innings, it will help in moving forward. And Mirage was bowled in both innings – he bowled really well.

What did winning captain Rohit Sharma say-

We all move forward in life and at some stage or the other you have to work with different people. When Rahul bhai said that his game is over, it was a great time for us. Then life moves on and as a team we had to move forward. With Gautam Gambhir…I have played with him and what his mentality is like. It’s still early days, but very successful. To be honest, we had to think a lot to take the game forward. When we came on the fourth day, we wanted to get them out as quickly as possible and see what we could do with the bat. It was not about the runs we scored but the overs we wanted to give them. The pitch didn’t offer much for the bowlers, but it was a brilliant effort from the bowlers to win the game on that pitch. The batsmen were willing to take risks and we were willing to give ourselves a chance on a result. Look, Akash has been good and has played a lot of domestic cricket. There are enough overs in the leg and he can do the work that the team expects from him. He can bowl long spells and we want to create a group of bowlers who are ready to play Test cricket at any time. If someone gets injured, you should replace them with another bowler.

What did Player of the Match Yashasvi Jaiswal say?

I guess I was just thinking about what I can do for my team. The circumstances were different in Chennai and different here too. I was just trying to do what I needed to do for my team and try to give my best. Every innings is important. I try to give my best and prepare in the same manner. Rohit bhai and sir told me to play the way I want to play. We discussed that we have to at least score some scores and we can play freely. We wanted to win this game and we were just ready to go for it.

Finn praised him a lot and even said that he is the best player in the world. Speaking with former England captain Alastair Cook on TNT Sports, Steven Finn said, “Jaiswal scored a brilliant 161, but he is the player I like to watch. That is Jasprit Bumrah. I think he really is the best player in the world. Honestly, sometimes I think bowling like him is a joke! You see him bowling and you just think, I’m glad I don’t have to come out to bat.” He further said, “I was surprised that India went there (Australia) and defeated Australia, where usually it is very difficult to go and play cricket. Perth, I know it’s not the WACA; I know it’s a new stadium, but still, historically, Australia hasn’t lost many matches there. I thought India performed very bravely there.” Let us tell you that, Bumrah now has 118 wickets in 27 Test matches in SENA countries at an impressive average of 22.55, which also includes his career best performance (6/33). During this period, he has taken five wicket hauls 7 times, which is equal to Kapil Dev. They are followed by BS Chandrashekhar and Zaheer Khan (six each), and Bishan Singh Bedi and Anil Kumble (five each).
